English for Automobile Engineering - Tiếng anh chuyên ngành ô tô

Abstract

The University of Transport Technology (UTT) offers “English for Automobile Engineering” as an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) with the aim of improving the communication skills of the students in the context of Automobile Engineering. The course is intended to give the students an overview of the basic technical knowledge as well as the grammar and vocabulary related to different major topics in this field. It is hoped that this course will provide the students with the opportunities to practice and develop their language skills (reading comprehension, communication, writing, speaking, listening, etc.) in general, and specifically in the area of Automobile Engineering. The subject English for Automobile Engineering is designed to provide students with the technical vocabulary and terminologies in English for Automobile Engineering, and develop the students’ abilities to comprehend ESP texts, communicate, write reports, and translate articles. It provides four (4) topic-based units covering the most important areas of automobile industry. In order to make the course interesting to students, the units are developed to contain:  technical vocabulary, reading and practice materials that are professionally used in automobile engineering,  video clips and listening activities,  articles on new technology, and  student activities to simulate the practical and professional practice on site. I hope that this text will help improve the students’ skills in English professional communications.
